US firm Panduit unveils manufacturing facility in Johor Bahru

Panduit Corporation, a leading US-based manufacturer of electrical and network infrastructure solutions, has recently inaugurated its latest manufacturing facility in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This new plant, sprawling over 25,083 square meters, represents a significant milestone for the company and the region's industrial landscape.

The facility, operational since October 2023, specializes in the production of cable tie products. This expansion is not just a testament to Panduit's commitment to growth but also a boon for the local economy, with the promise of 184 new jobs by the end of 2024, as reported by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).

Harry Woo, Panduit's Senior Vice-President and Managing Director for Asia-Pacific, emphasized the strategic importance of the Johor Bahru plant. "This move ensures our competitive edge, fortifies our presence in the region, and guarantees uninterrupted service to our clientele," he stated.

The plant is not only a hub for manufacturing but also a beacon of innovation, featuring state-of-the-art robotics and automation to boost productivity. Furthermore, it incorporates energy-efficient design principles, underscoring Panduit's dedication to sustainability and efficiency, as highlighted by David Tallentire, Panduit's Senior Vice-President of Operations.

The establishment of Panduit's facility is a significant stride for Malaysia's technological advancement. MIDA CEO, Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, remarked on the positive impact on Malaysia's high-tech talent pool and the support it provides to small and medium enterprises in embracing advanced manufacturing technologies. This, in turn, contributes to the growth of the plastics industry ecosystem in the region.

Johor's strategic location, robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, and pivotal role as an ASEan market hub are key factors that influenced Panduit's decision to set up operations there. Johor State Executive Member and Chairman of Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs, and Human Resources Committee, Lee Ting Han, expressed confidence that Panduit's investment will elevate Malaysia and Johor's standing as premier destinations for high-tech and precision manufacturing industries.

As Panduit Corporation embarks on this new chapter in Johor Bahru, it sets a precedent for industrial innovation and economic development, promising a brighter future for the region's manufacturing sector.
